Our Morocco imperial cities tour reveals, in eight days, the great historic capitals of the kingdom — Rabat, Meknes, Fes and Marrakech — together with the Roman ruins of Volubilis, the cedar forests of the Middle Atlas, the Ouzoud waterfalls and Casablanca’s Hassan II Mosque. It is a private journey starting and ending in Casablanca, in an immaculately maintained air-conditioned vehicle with a licensed multilingual chauffeur, and with local guides in Casablanca, Fes and Marrakech.

From Rabat to Fes: medinas, palaces and Roman ruins

Your driver meets you at Casablanca’s Mohammed V airport or your accommodation and takes you to Rabat, Morocco’s political capital. The next morning you discover the Kasbah of the Udayas, the Hassan Tower and the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, then continue to Meknes, the “Versailles of Morocco”, with Bab Mansour, El Hedim Square and the Royal Stables. Next comes the Roman city of Volubilis and its mosaics, before you reach Fes in the evening. On day three a guide opens the doors of Fes el-Bali, one of the oldest medinas in the world: the Royal Palace gates, the Mellah, Al Quaraouiyine University, the Nejjarine Museum and the Chouara tanneries.

From the Middle Atlas to Marrakech and Casablanca

Day four crosses the Middle Atlas via Azrou and Beni Mellal, through cedar forests and scenic valleys, to the village of Ouzoud and Morocco’s highest waterfalls. After a relaxed morning by the falls, you drive on to Marrakech and spend the evening on Jemaa el-Fnaa square. Day six is a full guided day in the Red City: the Majorelle Garden and Yves Saint Laurent Museum, the Koutoubia Mosque, the Bahia Palace, the Saadian Tombs, the Mellah and the souks. After a free morning, the road leads to Casablanca for a guided visit of the Hassan II Mosque, built partly over the Atlantic. On day eight you are transferred to Mohammed V airport.
