The Tarifa to Tangier ferry is the fastest way from Spain to Morocco: a one-hour crossing and you step off right in central Tangier. Here are the timetables, companies, prices and our tips for 2026. Information checked in October 2026: always confirm the day’s timetable with the ferry company.
Tarifa to Tangier ferry companies in 2026
The route is run by Baleària and by Africa Morocco Link (AML), on the route since June 2024. FRS stopped serving it in May 2025, even though many websites still mention it. Between them the two companies offer several sailings a day, around ten in total.
Tarifa Tangier ferry times
Departures from Tarifa usually run from the morning (around 9 am) to the evening (around 9 pm, Spanish time), and from Tangier roughly from 7 am to 11 pm local time. Timetables change with the season: book a morning ferry for a day trip and check the last return sailing. In summer, during Operation Marhaba, tickets must have a fixed date and time.
Time difference: watch your return
Since 20 September 2026 Morocco stays on GMT all year, so Spain is one hour ahead in winter and two hours ahead in summer. Ferry times are always given in the local time of the departure port.
Tarifa to Tangier ferry prices and booking
In October 2026, one-way fares shown online ranged from about €27 to over €70 depending on the company, the sales channel and the date, so roughly €55 to €100 return per adult. You need each traveller’s full name and passport number. Be at Tarifa port about 45 minutes before departure.
Tangier Ville or Tanger Med?
The Tarifa ferry lands at Tangier Ville port, below the medina: perfect for a day trip. Ferries from Algeciras arrive at Tanger Med, about forty kilometres away, where you will need a Tanger Med port transfer. In strong easterly winds, Tarifa sailings can be cancelled for the day.
